Meet Our Team
Christie Quackenbush
My philosophy is that counseling is an opportunity for healing & growth through the partnership between you and your counselor. I come alongside you to assist you in learning more about yourself & your behavior while gaining a sense of ownership. This is driven by you, which itself can motivate and empower you to process difficult things or make change.
Whether you’ve been in therapy before or this is your first time, choosing a therapist can be difficult. I am glad that you’re looking for one right now! I want you to be well and would love to partner with you. Together we will look at the many facets of your presenting issue(s) with the goal of overall wellness.
The holistic wellness model that I work from encourages approaching the whole person and their system. We will make a treatment plan together, so we have a clear direction to walk in. I love to see my clients take ownership and control over this process! I can provide Christian counseling from a Biblical worldview, if you wish you incorporate that in your therapy.
I use different modalities in order to tailor treatment to each client. CBT is useful in helping you understand that you have the ability & control over your change. Adler’s Individual and Family Therapies are holistic, goal directed, & purposeful. I have used Gestalt techniques to bring clients into the present and I use DBT to provide attainable skills work. I am a SITT-trained (Story Informed Trauma Therapy) therapist and use this framework for much of my work. I also lean on attachment therapy to help you understand how to build healthy bonds with others.
I have experience providing mental health counseling to children, adolescents and adults in individual, couple/family, and group therapy settings. I base my theoretical approach on the client and their presenting issues. I have expertise in areas such as trauma, depression, anxiety, BPD, burnout, stress, family discord, grief, addiction, relationship conflicts, achievement anxiety, illness, sexual victimization, pregnancy loss, and suicidal ideation
I have lived in different places in the Greater New Orleans area for over 40 years. I enjoy spending time with my husband and many children. I especially like being outside and playing with plants. I also like being creative in my free time. And I love naps.
