About Celebration Hope Center

Healing Hearts for Community Development (HHCD) is a 501c3, faith-based non-profit organization established by Celebration Church in 2005 to meet to social and emotional needs of the people in the New Orleans Metropolitan Area.

In June 2005, HHCD opened the Celebration Hope Center (CHC) to provide substance abuse treatment and recovery support services with funds generated from the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives under President George W. Bush. These funds established a working relationship with Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority (JPHSA).

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina completely destroyed the newly opened Celebration Hope Center. The CHC was reopened in early 2006 at a different location. At this time, mental health counseling, especially in the area of trauma recovery, was added to the services provided at the CHC.

Also, in 2006, HHCD began contracting with JPHSA to provide drug prevention programs in Jefferson Parish schools and communities. This partnership still continues.

Over the years, HHCD through the Celebration Hope Center has brought help, hope, and healing to thousands of children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families through mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, recovery support services, and prevention programming.

In 2019, HHCD established a new organizational structure where a cadre of independent counselors provide behavioral health counseling each specializing in their area of expertise. Visit our staff bios to see which counselor is best suited to meet your individual needs.

Over the past two (2) years, the Celebration Hope Center has served over 500 behavioral health clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, family issues, grief, and substance abuse.

At the same time, HHCD, through the Prevention Program, has reached over 3,000 students in the New Orleans area with lessons dealing with drug and violence prevention, gambling prevention, and information dealing with the opioid epidemic. Special small group sessions are also conducted for students already experiencing negative
consequences from making bad choices.
